Shortly before President Donald Trump hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Mar-A-Lago, Florida Health Inspectors checked in to see if everything was up code at the Private Palm Beach Club.
Inspectors found 13 health code violations at Mar-A-Lago, setting a record for the club’s personal filth and incurring $200,000 in fines.
Along with ten relatively minor violations, three are considered serious enough to cause serious bacterial illness. Among them:
- Proper parasite destruction was not used on fish that was intended to be served raw.
- Multiple coolers stored raw meat at temperatures as high as 57 degrees — 16 degrees hotter than is required.
- Coolers were not in proper working order.
This is not the that first time Mar-A-Lago has failed to comply with state health standards. Two years ago, the club received 11 health code violations, and now, despite a massive in-flux of cash from its $200,000 initiation fee, Mar-A-Lago is moving in the wrong direction.
Certainly, this will give foreign dignitaries pause as Trump continues to parade them through his luxurious golf getaway. It’s disturbing enough to think of what they might be eating down there. But far more disturbing is the fact that the so-called leader of the free world cannot even keep a kitchen clean.
