With news breaking today that Bill O’Reilly was fired from his primetime show on FOX, The O’Reilly Factor, most people agreed with the network’s decision to terminate O’Reilly’s contract. One person, however, was decidedly unhappy about the news: “conservative pundit Stephen Colbert.”
Before taking on his role as host of CBS’s The Late Show, Stephen Colbert played the right-leaning host of Comedy Central’s satirical show, The Colbert Report. Since taking over on The Late Show, that character has been largely silent. Until now.

Of the fact that both Colbert’s character and O’Reilly were surprisingly similar, Colbert said, “I owe a lot to Bill O’Reilly. I spent over nine years playing a character based largely on him. And then 12 months in therapy to de-bloviate myself.”
If we can agree on the one good thing that came out of O’Reilly’s time on the air, it was, without a doubt, conservative pundit Stephen Colbert.
