UN Ambassador Nikki Haley just found herself the latest target of Trump’s bullying today, in front of a room full of UN Security Council Ambassadors at an official White House meeting.
“Now, does everybody like Nikki?” Trump asked. ““Otherwise she could be easily replaced right?” The disrespectful jab was met with an eruption of laughter from Trump and the rest of the room. A clearly embarrassed Haley forces a smile. (Video below)
Such impolite, unprofessional behavior towards a senior diplomat is unsurprising from Trump, but impossible to imagine from Obama or any number of former presidents. The comments are in keeping with a recurrent misogynist strain found in much of Trump’s rhetoric.
Trump goes out of his way to defend admitted sexual harassers like Bill O’Reilly while openly insulting and ridiculing the few women in his circle of power not named Ivanka.
Perhaps an Administration that has been hemorrhaging officials since inauguration shouldn’t make mean-spirited jokes about further losses.
