Ivanka Trump continues to collect criticism from around the nation as she meekly refuses to challenge her father on any part of his un-American agenda. Though she proclaims that she is a feminist who is devoted to the empowerment of women, Ivanka still has yet to take any kind of action to substantiate her claims.
Actress Debra Messing of Will & Grace fame called Ivanka out on her hypocrisy at the 2017 GLAAD media awards. While receiving the award for “excellence in media,” Messing addressed Ivanka directly and told her to”stop blindly defending your father.”
“There is someone I would like to make a direct appeal to this evening, Ivanka … girlfriend … what are you doing? C’mon, it’s me, Deb. Let’s talk for a second, one Jewish mother to another.
It is not enough to simply say that women’s issues are important to you. It’s time to do something.
You could change the lives of millions of women and children just by telling your dad stories about real people who are suffering.
Don’t let him separate immigrant mothers from their American-born children. Don’t let him take health care away from women who need it. Don’t allow him to make trans kids like Gavin fight in court for their basic human dignity,”
Messing went on to slam President Trump as a “very bad and very orange man in our White House” and mourned that “unless you are an unenlightened, straight, cisgender, white male, you are a target.”
It’s hard to argue with that, seeing as women are now being arrested for laughing at old white men, protections for LGBT Americans are being rolled back across the board, and our Justice Department is headed by an unrepentant racist.
Ivanka Trump is one of the few people that President Trump will listen to, and from the White House she has a position from which she could really make a difference in the lives of American women – but she would rather just smile and sit pretty while she and her family use the Presidency to fill their pockets.
