In today’s much anticipated Senate Intelligence Committee hearing looking into President Trump and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s secret communications with Russia, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) used his time for an ill-fated effort to discredit former acting Attorney General Sally Yates.
The Senator tried to ambush Yates with an off-topic question about the legality of her’ decision not to enforce Trump’s Muslim ban, but Yates replied with a swift smackdown. She cited the actual law. Reading aloud from the Immigration and Nationality Act, she said “No person shall receive preference or be discriminated against in issuance of a visa because of race, nationality, or place of birth.”
Cruz’s humiliating moment exposed his partisan agenda, and the twitterverse loved it. Below are some of the best retorts. Enjoy:
That burn Ted Cruz got from Sally Yates will forever be a pre-existing condition.

Usually when you humiliate Ted Cruz this throughly, he ends up endorsing you for president. https://t.co/3ZOk5thigA

In my darkest hours I will think of Sally Yates destroying Ted Cruz on national television, and it will sustain me.
