Bush’s Speechwriter Just Said What Republicans Won’t About Trump’s Comey Firing
Only the most partisan Trump supporters and Republican hacks are claiming not to be disturbed by the firing of FBI Director James Comey, even as his bureau is in the midst of an investigation of the Trump campaign’s illicit ties to Russia.
David Frum, former head speechwriter to President George W. Bush, is not one of those hacks.
Immediately following the news that President Trump had fired Comey, Frum took to Twitter to condemn the “coup” with a series of blunt tweets.
Anybody who believes that these thugs fired Comey to do justice to Hillary Clinton is a sucker & a fool https://t.co/TVdl9JIqTv

It’s a coup.

The day began with Trump attempting to intimidate a former acting attorney general & Senate witness. It ends with a coup against the FBI.

Anybody who thinks that criticism of this president are in any way partisan is not paying attention. As Frum points out, Trump’s regime amounts to a daily, full-scale assault on our democracy. This Republican is not standing for it.
We continue to wait for Congressional Republicans to join him on the right side of history.
