Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey is sending shockwaves through the country. The most obvious interpretation of the act is that Trump feared Comey was getting close to uncovering his Russian connections. Now that Comey has been removed, the FBI’s investigation will be disrupted. Then, depending on who Trump appoints, it could be aborted entirely. It’s a naked power grab on Trump’s part, and it must be opposed strongly and immediately. His desperation is starting to make him careless.
Elizabeth Warren, one of Trump’s staunchest enemies, has taken to Twitter to blast the firing:
There’s no question that Comey made questionable decisions during the election. The FBI shouldn’t comment on ongoing investigations.

But does anyone seriously believe @realDonaldTrump fired the top person investigating his ties to Russia because he was unfair to Hillary?

It’s time for Congress to get their heads out of the sand. @realDonaldTrump cannot pick the person to continue this critical investigation.

We need a real, independent prosecutor who @realDonaldTrump can't fire, Sessions can't intimidate, & Congress can't muzzle. We need it now.

The American people’s faith in their government is quickly crumbling. Trump obviously can’t be trusted, but it seems more and more that the Republican controlled Congress can’t be trusted either. They are failing to adequately prosecute these leads and uncover the truth. Trump needs to be exposed, nothing less than the country is at stake.
Elizabeth Warren and her democratic allies have to keep the heat on Republicans. She’s come out swinging again and again, but she needs to stay in the fight until the Republicans are so exhausted that they’re forced to finally put country before party.
