President Donald Trump’s administration appeared to muster as many troops as they could last night to defend his shock decision to fired FBI Director James Comey. They even pulled Kellyanne Conway out of storage, with hilarious results.
Conway was appearing on CNN host Anderson Cooper’s late night show to defend the President’s decision to fire the man responsible for investigating his nefarious ties to Russia. Naturally, Conway was having some difficulty spinning a yarn around Anderson Cooper.
“All of a sudden, the White House is concerned about James Comey’s handling of Hillary Clinton’s emails?” Why now are you concerned about the Hillary Clinton email investigation when as a candidate, Trump was praising it from the campaign trail?”
To which Conway replies, “I think you’re looking at the wrong set of facts here.” The shrill Trump mouthpiece tried to claim that Trump was acting decisively to remove Comey, with Cooper rightly responding “That makes no sense.”
Cooper proceeds calls the Trump administration out on their hogwash:
“You don’t think it looks odd at all that the President of the United States is firing the guy who’s leading the investigation into the president’s White House and the people around the president?”
Conway, naturally, disagreed: “The president is not under investigation,” she said. “I’m around the president, I’m not under investigation. I can name several people in that same situation.”
Cooper then played a series of clips showing Trump praising Comey’s handling of the Clinton email investigation. Conway shot back:
You’re conflating two things that don’t belong together. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was on your show often last fall saying we were going to win Michigan and how we were going to do it, so that was fun.”
Cooper reacted to this nonsensical verbal diarrhea by giving the audience what can only be described as the best eye-roll on Television.
This probably wasn’t the first eye-roll of the night. No doubt Cooper was already annoyed that he had to accommodate Conway, who is without a doubt the worst guest to ever have on your show.
Thankfully it seems even the Whitehouse has realized that her babbling is counterproductive. After the “bowling green massacre” scandal Conway has rarely appeared on television.
It’s a reflection of how badly America is taking the news of Comey’s firing that they needed to wheel her out on stage.
At least we got this hilarious video clip, which you can watch below:
