In his daily quest to become the worst president in modern history, Trump marches closer and closer into Nixon territory. Trump is every bit as deceitful, but with half the intelligence. In an almost comical development today, Trump threatened the fired FBI Director James Comey with tape recordings:
James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 12, 2017
Congress responded immediately. The House Judiciary Committee just sent an official request to the White House Counsel demanding Trump hand over the tapes, if indeed they exist.
READ THE LETTER BELOW:
At this stage, it’s unclear whether or not the president has actually been secretly recording his conversations. Sean Spicer refused to either confirm or deny the existence of the tapes. Since it’s Trump, it seems equally likely that this is just his latest outrageous lie. In either case, Congress intends to find out the truth.
