It’s fairly normal for politicians to send out standardized press releases on major holidays. So it’s no surprise that Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) just sent out a typical politician’s obligatory Mother’s Day tweet today.

Normally this is the type of tweet that wouldn’t even garner a second glance. The times we find ourselves in are anything but normal, however.
David Frum, the former G. W. Bush speechwriter who is now the Senior Editor of The Atlantic, is one of those few on the right who has joined the Trump resistance movement. Frum couldn’t resist the opportunity to troll the man who shepherded the disastrous health care bill that will cause 24 million Americans to lose their health insurance and lead to massive premium increases for people with pre-existing conditions.
Frum took to Twitter with a reply designed to call out Ryan’s hypocrisy:
But moms, please quit the mooching to have maternity benefits covered by health insurance https://t.co/ChuiaJMjsS

We all love our Mothers. Isn’t that reason enough to make sure that everyone who needs it gets their maternity benefits covered by their health Insurance? Thank you, David Frum, for taking the words right from our mouths and showing the Speaker that business will not be done as usual until every American has the health care that they deserve.
