The Trump Train is careening off the tracks at breakneck, historical speed. The New York Times just dropped a bombshell report that in February, Trump directly asked then-FBI Director James Comey to abandon the investigation into National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s connections to Russia.
Flynn had resigned just the previous day. Comey refused, and Trump later fired him. Trump’s obstruction of justice was unearthed with the revealing of memos Comey wrote at the time.
Now, powerful Republicans are responding. Jason Chaffetz, Chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee just tweeted:
.@GOPoversight is going to get the Comey memo, if it exists. I need to see it sooner rather than later. I have my subpoena pen ready.

Finally, Republicans are awakening to the danger Trump poses to American democracy. They’re moving slow, but they’re moving. Now it’s on Chaffetz to take action to back up his words. Congress must review the memos, and if validated, must take action to impeach Trump.
