Newt Gingrich has never been much for for consistency. The former Republican Speaker of the House has long been perfectly content to change his views at a moment’s notice in the interest of expediency or convenience.
Several weeks ago, Gingrich tweeted out support for Trump-Russia special prosecutor Robert Mueller the day the appointment was announced. Now, in a complete reversal of opinion, Gingrich is contending that Mueller is terrible choice.
Katy Tur, a correspondent for NBC News, just trolled Gingrich by putting his opposing opinions side by side:

Robert Mueller is a former FBI Director with a sterling record and reputation. A Republican, Mueller would have no partisan reasons to destroy Trump. It’s a safe and reasonable presumption that he will conduct his investigation with honor and restraint.
Gingrich, a vocal Trump supporter, seems worried that Mueller will uncover something about Trump’s Russia connections, and so he’s setting out to defame him. The truth is of no interest to Gingrich, and this reversal is nothing but an act of political hackery.
This isn’t the first time Gingrich has displayed stunning hypocrisy. Notably, the serial philanderer is fond of espousing support for “family values” and castigating political opponents for marital indiscretions. While spearheading the impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton and attacking him for his affair with Monica Lewinsky, Gingrich was secretly having an affair with a D.C. staffer.
Gingrich has no credibility left, and Katy Tur’s tweet is exactly the kind of treatment he deserves in response to his toxic partisanship.
