During today’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Attorney General Jeff Sessions spent a great deal of time trying to slither his way out of giving any concrete answers to any of the questions about his undisclosed meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
Question after question after question, all Sessions can say is “I do not recall.” Not a definitive “no,” but “I don’t recall,” leaving him room to wiggle away for when the truth finally leaks out – as it has time and time again during the past few months.
Senator Martin Heinrich of (D-NM) lost his patience with Sessions’ refusal to answer anything and unloaded on him with a powerful barrage of admonishment.
Like a scolding from a teacher towards a pupil who hasn’t done his homework, Heinrich deftly dissected Sessions’ excuses in a suitably condescending manner, his palpable frustration with Sessions’ arrogant disdain for the severity of these proceedings dripping from his words.
