Trump Just Shamelessly Walked Back His Attack On Boston’s Anti-Neo-Nazi Protesters

After a morning tweet storm that basically characterized the anti-Nazi counter-protestors in Boston as “anti-police agitators”, President Trump–or more likely his White House staff–tried to walk back his comments with a fresh tweet praising the 40 thousand people who showed up to condemn the alt-right fascists.

Coming from a man who just days earlier tried to pin the blame for the violence at the “Unite The Right” rally in Charlottesville on “many sides”, Trump’s tweet sounded like another attempt by his staff to moderate the messaging from the unhinged commander-in-chief, much like the comments he begrudgingly made on Monday after his initial comments on the killing in Charlottesville was met with horror and revulsion by the majority of America.

The actual “free-speech” rally organized by alt-right groups in Boston only attracted around 50 to 100 people and broke up an hour earlier than originally planned due to the low turnout of supporters and the overwhelming number of counter-protesters there to make a statement against hatred. Perhaps the low turnout was due to the fact that so many of the alt-right marchers in Virginia were identified from press coverage of the rally and were subsequently fired from their jobs by appalled employers and/or ostracized on social media. One was even disowned by his own family, so ashamed were they at their progeny’s behavior.

Whatever the sincerity of Trump’s tweet today, there is no doubt that the vast majority of people in this country, much like the vast majority of demonstrators in Boston, have no tolerance for “bigotry and hate” and will come together to fight it no matter what the president is putting up on Twitter.

Before crediting Trump with a change of heart, however, let’s wait a day or two to see what he has to say when he’s not in the presence of the presidential babysitters.

Add your name to millions demanding that Congress take action on the President’s crimes. IMPEACH DONALD TRUMP!
