Special counsel Robert Mueller is running a tightly sealed operation. The famously methodical former FBI Director is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. The same can be said of the parallel Congressional probe.
While there is very little flowing out of the investigations so far, it is possible to see some of the information flowing in, as subpoenas are issued and grand juries convened. The American public continues to get little crumbs that seem to indicate the clock is running out for Donald Trump.
ABC News reports that Christopher Steele – the former British spy who compiled the dossier on Donald Trump that includes the salacious report that the reality television star engaged in urine-related sexual practices with Russian prostitutes – has delivered the names of his sources to the FBI. The dossier alleges collusion between Trump and Russia, as well as the possibility that the president has been blackmailed by America’s foreign adversary.
Steele was hired by Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS, a research firm, to compile the dossier for Donald Trump’s Republican primary opponents, and later for Democrats. Simpson himself will testify before Senate Judiciary Committee today in a closed session. Before working at Fusion GPS, Simpson was a journalist who focused on money laundering and Russian crime, two subjects which have become of great interest in the Trump investigation.
Trump has denied the veracity of the reports, despite the fact that Steele has a sterling reputation from his time as an MI6 operative. Whatever the truth of the matter, at the rate things are going, this country will soon have the answers it deserves.
