A breaking new report from the Washington Post reveals that President Trump’s personal lawyer and top Trump Organization executive Michael Cohen directly emailed the spokesman of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin asking him to help the Trump Tower Moscow project clear some hurdles.
In January 2016, Cohen emailed Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov looking for a little grease in the wheels.
“Over the past few months I have been working with a company based in Russia regarding the development of a Trump Tower – Moscow project in Moscow City. Without getting into lengthy specifics. the communication between our two sides has stalled.
As this project is too important, I am hereby requesting your assistance. I respectfully request someone, preferably you, contact me so that I might discuss the specifics as well as arranging meetings with the appropriate individuals. I thank you in advance for your assistance and look forward to hearing from you soon.”
The latest email is the first evidence we’ve seen of direct communication between Trump’s inner circle and the Kremlin, and even more evidence that Trump was lying through his teeth when he said that he has “absolutely no business in Russia.”
While this isn’t necessarily implicating in and of itself, when you consider the message in the context of the recently released Felix Sater emails that very explicitly state that he was going to “get Putin on this program and get Donald elected,” it’s clear that Trump’s business plans in Russia and his campaign for the Presidency are inextricably linked.
As the slow drip of incriminating reports digs a deeper and deeper hole for the President, It’s only a matter of time before Special Counsel Mueller finds the hidden link between Russian collusion, Trump Tower Moscow, and the Clinton email hacking that blows the entire scandal wide open.
