Careful observers of President Trump’s behavior are skeptical that he will follow through on today’s promise to donate $1 million of his personal assets to Hurricane Harvey relief. He has a long, ignominious past of pledging to make large contributions to charities and then failing to follow through on the promises.
It seems that Trump likes to say he’ll donate money because it garners him a surge of praise and congratulations, but once the adulation dies down, he quickly moves on.
As such, it’s not surprising that his lapdog son Eric took to Twitter to praise the $1 million pledge. In doing so, he couldn’t resist the urge to take a cheap shot at CNN, which President Trump has repeatedly and erroneously attacked as “fake news.”
Eric Trump tweeted “So proud!!! Let’s see if @CNN or the #MSM acknowledges this incredible generosity. My guess: they won’t.”
What Eric failed to mention, or was too scatterbrained to notice, was that CNN had already covered the story, hours before.

Like the rest of his bumbling family, he can’t seem to do anything right. More importantly, Trump doesn’t deserve to be praised even if he does make a donation. He claims to be a multi-billionaire. He can afford to make a huge donation and since he has somehow become our president, he – more than anyone else – must do everything within his power to help the victims of this terrible natural disaster.
