Today, President Trump revealed that he is ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), President Obama’s initiative protecting from deportation 800,000 youth who have committed no crime but calling the United States of America — the country where they were raised — home.
Trump’s heartless move has been blasted by all but his most devout sycophants and ideologues, but renowned musician John Legend is less interested in Trump than his victims. (Tweet below.)
While Legend is certainly no fan of Trump, the thing that drove him to make a public statement was the dehumanizing attitude he was hearing from Trump’s inner circle.
John Legend reminds all of us that beneath the political gamesmanship from the president and Congress, real lives are at stake. Each of Trump’s 800,000 victims today has humanity that Donald Trump has chosen to dismiss.
Quit calling human beings "illegal aliens". They're people. They're our friends, neighbors and co-workers. They're dreamers & lovers
