As more details of the investigation into the possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation leak, it seems more and more likely that Trump allies, if not Trump himself, will go down for criminal, possibly treasonous, misbehavior.
So far, the smart money seems to be that former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort will be a likely scapegoat, and now Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) has confirmed these predictions.
Blumenthal, a top member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says Paul Manafort is likely confronting some “fairly serious criminal charges,” according to The Washington Post. He added that the committee can elicit information from Manafort and that they will not be offering him immunity.
In July, Manafort was targeted in a pre-dawn FBI raid. The agents seized documents and possible evidence from his residence. Shortly after, Blumenthal said, “Apparently there is now no question of clear evidence connecting Paul Manafort to some criminal wrong doing.” It appears that Blumenthal’s comments were prescient, and Manafort is now circling the drain.
Manafort has a long sordid history of lobbying for violent foreign leaders and dictators, including the Russian puppet and former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Not surprisingly, Manfort also attended the secret meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and surrogates of the Russian government to obtain compromising dirt on Hillary Clinton during the campaign. He has a proven track record of engaging in immoral and often criminal behavior.
If it does indeed turn out that Trump campaign worked even more closely with Russia than already revealed, one can be sure that Manafort’s filthy, bloody hands are deeply involved.
