Ms. Biden, who runs Livelihood, a social enterprise that manufactures American-made hoodies and donates 100% of the proceeds to underserved communities, said that her father is busy with his Biden Foundation and Cancer Moonshot initiatives, and is still recovering from the untimely death of his son Beau in 2015.
However, she admitted:
It’s a little ways away. A lot can happen in four years and we know this as a family. If he is in good health, knock on wood, and seeing what the landscape is at the time, yeah, I think he is considering it.
Biden ruled out a 2016 run, saying that in the aftermath of his son’s death, “part of my soul was gone.”
However, it is that same beloved son who may inspire “Uncle Joe” to run, after all.
In a 2015 interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, Biden admitted that, on his death bed, Beau encouraged his father to run for president.
Ashley Biden adds her voice to the chorus of family encouragement, saying of her dad’s possible presidential run, “I hope so.”
