The Daily Show Just Uncovered A Hilarious Revelation About Steve Bannon’s Family Tree
On last night’s Daily Show, Trevor Noah revealed a startling and very satisfying truth about former White House Chief Advisor Steve Bannon’s lineage. According to Noah, the show hired a professional genealogist to investigate the self-avowed nationalist’s family tree, after the Breitbart chairman attacked immigration and DREAMers in an interview with 60 Minutes’ Charlie Rose on Sunday.
It turns out that the Breitbart chairman’s great-great-grandfather, “Lawrence Bannon, arrived in the U.S. from Ireland by the 1850s, at a time when America’s borders were so open that Irishmen could walk into the country with no passports, no visas, no background checks of any kind.”
Noah added, “So in many ways, Steve Bannon’s great-grandfather was a DREAMer,” he added. “Yeah, and his great-grandson is a f***ing nightmare.”
In his CBS interview Sunday, Bannon had said, “America is built on our citizens . . . look at the 19th century, the control of borders. Economic nationalism is what this country was built on.”
Guess Bannon needs to go back to high school and take a history class because his progenitor was allowed to walk right in. Of course, that might be all right with Bannon because he was a white man.
