White House Just Said To Fire Black Trump Critic. Obama’s Comms Chief’s Response Is Perfect

Today, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on live television that ESPN should fire African American Sports Center host Jamele Hill for tweeting “Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime. His rise is a direct result of white supremacy.”

The White House’s un-American attack on free speech from the highest office in the land — and against a woman of color — has again sounded the alarm bells over a president whose despotic tendencies are rivaled by his rampant misogyny and racism.

President Obama’s former White House Communications Director and current co-host of Crooked Media’s popular podcast, Pod Save America, Dan Pfeiffer saw the disgraceful display and immediately pointed out the hypocrisy on Twitter (two tweets below).

First, Pfeiffer retweeted commentary from another ESPN journalist of color, J.A. Adande, who reminded people that Trump has leveled unprecedented — and transparently false — accusations against presidents and never been held to account:

Then, Pfeffer tweeted a reminder of his own: That Trump’s entire candidacy, and therefore presidency, was grounded in a racist lie about a President of the United States.

Trump’s attack on free speech is only the latest disgraceful chapter of his presidency and won’t be the last, but it’s nice to know at least that team Obama continues to be a force for truth.
