Trump’s White House has become a factory whose sole purpose seems to be manufacturing Orwellian lies and force-feeding them to the American public. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders takes to her podium each day and sprays her latest round of lies, almost all of them engineered to inflate Trump’s childish ego. Today was no different.
Last week, Democratic Leaders Nancy Pelosi (CA) and Chuck Schumer (NY) reached a surprise deal for a short-term raise of the debt ceiling, reportedly angering Republicans in the process, who felt broadsided and ignored.
It was seen as a major victory for Democrats and an unnecessary defeat for Republicans. Many speculated that Trump would soon cozy up more with the Democrats to enrage Republicans who had irritated him.
In response to a question regarding the president’s strained relationship with Republicans, Huckabee Sanders said that President Trump has done “more for bipartisanship in the last eight days than President Obama did in eight years.”

The assertion is, of course, preposterous. President Obama went out of his way trying to collaborate with Republicans, despite their constant, express interest in obstructing all of his initiatives, even those which should have been squarely bipartisan. They repeatedly betrayed their constituents’ interests just to make things more difficult for our first black president.
“My number one priority is making sure president Obama’s a one-term president,” Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said, demonstrating exactly how willing Republicans were to work with Obama to help the American people.
Despite the entrenched opposition to progress, Obama passed several important pieces of bipartisan legislation, including the economic recovery bill and surveillance reform. Check out a list of Obama’s bipartisan accomplishments here.
All of this is to say nothing of the fact that Trump has zero legislative accomplishments to speak of, so clearly he hasn’t really done anything meaningful for bipartisanship.
