“Get out of my country, you dirty Muslim,” drunken Dimitrous Zias shouted, as he physically assaulted a Jewish mother and daughter in a Queens, New York subway station yesterday.
He had been walking behind them up the stairs from the train platform, when the 57-year-old mother waved at him to go ahead. He suddenly hurled Islamophobic epithets at the two women and began to attack.
According to a NY Daily News article today, Zias “repeatedly punched the mother in the face and body, and socked her daughter, 37, in the face, repeatedly pulling her hair, sources said.”
He was immediately arrested and charge with a hate crime.
This is not the first arrest for Zias, who was convicted in 2015 of “felony unlawful surveillance” for “upskirting” (shooting up a woman’s skirt with a cell phone video camera).
Although the women were Jewish, he attacked them thinking they were Muslim. This is one in a spate of hate crimes since the political ascent of Donald Trump.
