Every single person who willingly chooses to serve in the Trump administration will be stained with ignominy for the rest of their lives. They’ve chosen to sell out any principles or dignity they may have had before, all for some fleeting influence and power. Complicity in Trump’s quest to lower the office of the presidency and destroy America’s reputation in the world is inexcusable.
Trump’s daughter Ivanka is certainly one of the worst offenders. She holds herself up as a feminist but has failed completely to denounce Trump’s brags of sexual assault or any of his numerous misogynist comments. She was originally touted as a “moderating influence” in the White House, but has stood by silently as Trump destabilizes our democracy, ignores climate change, and attacks the free press. She bears shared responsibility for his actions.
Not surprisingly for someone born with a silver spoon in her mouth, Trump’s daughter is totally unwilling to accept any personal responsibility for her father’s failed administration, despite her role as an influential White House advisor.
“Some people have created unrealistic expectations of what they expect from me,” Ivanka said to the Financial Times. Apparently, expecting her to do anything at all is unrealistic. It would take no effort for her to simply release a statement denouncing her father’s xenophobic statements, she is just too craven to do so.
“That my presence in and of itself would carry so much weight with my father that he would abandon his core values and the agenda that the American people voted for when they elected him. It’s not going to happen. To those critics, shy of turning my father into a liberal, I’d be a failure to them,” she said.
Of course, nobody expects Ivanka to turn Trump into a liberal. You’d have to be a total fool to think he could ever rise above the level of a common, right-wing, racist ignoramus. Instead, Americans are simply asking that Ivanka try to curb some of her father’s worse impulses.
“To voice dissent publicly would mean I’m not part of the team. When you’re part of a team, you’re part of a team. That doesn’t mean everyone in the White House has homogeneous views — we don’t, and I think that’s good and healthy — but that doesn’t mean we’re publicly undermining [each other] and this administration,” she added.
These statements make it clear exactly where her loyalties lie. She’s far more interested in hack partisanship and nepotism than serving the needs of the American people. She’s an unpatriotic coward.
