In her campaign memoir, Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History, not only does NBC News’ Katy Tur detail how Trump kissed her without her permission just before a Morning Joe appearance, she also reveals how one of his married staffers repeatedly sexually harassed her.
Ms. Tur does not mention the Trump aide by name, although at the top of the Wonkette blog’s list of possible culprits was Corey Lewandowski, the one-time Trump campaign manager known for his brash, and sometimes violent, behavior.
The married staffer ask Katy Tur, a single woman in her thirties, where he could meet single women in their thirties. To make matters worse, he would “call at late hours,” making remarks such as, “I’m sure you get all sweaty sometimes,” and bragging about “all the women who would want to sleep with him,” once he worked in the White House.
He also said degrading things to her about other woman journalists.
Trump’s boasts of sexual assault clearly established a permissive campaign culture when it comes to the treatment of women. In addition to Trump himself, two of his close aides have been accused of domestic violence, including his former Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and his first choice for Labor Secretary, Andrew Puzder.
No doubt, Trump’s kiss and his staffer’s remarks are just a fraction of the wildly inappropriate behavior Katy Tur witnessed and/or experienced on the 2016 presidential campaign trail.
But with the attention her book is getting, the talented young journalist looks like she’s about to have the last laugh.
