Melania Just Gave A U.N. Anti-Bullying Speech And Twitter Clapped Back Hard
Blistering is the only way to describe the responses on Twitter today, after Melania Trump’s tone-deaf speech at the U.N. this morning. The First Lady told the General Assembly to “step up” protections for children who are the targets of bullying, which did not sit right with the millions of Americans who watch her husband bully people every day.

Among the laughably hypocritical remarks she delivered was this gem:
We must teach our children the values of empathy and communication that are at the core of kindness, mindfulness, integrity, and leadership which can only be taught by example . . . we must remember that they are watching and listening, so we must never miss an opportunity to teach life’s many ethical lessons along the way. As adults, we are not merely responsible — we are accountable . . . [We must] take responsibility for what our children learn.
While the cause she touts is a valid one, the naked irony of her statement echoed throughout the chamber. Just days ago, her husband, Bully-in-Chief Donald Trump, retweeted a gif showing him hitting a golf ball that appeared to knock down his erstwhile political rival, Hillary Clinton.
Her husband is literally the worst example in the world today, if you want to teach children “accountability” and “responsibility” for our language, or “kindness, mindfulness, integrity, and leadership.”

Her words ring especially hollow after her husband disgraced and endangered the nation he swore to protect by calling North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un “rocket man” in his General Assembly screed yesterday, and insulted all the other countries present by propagating his ideology of “America First.”
Today, Mrs. Trump said, “No child should ever feel hungry, stalked, frightened, terrorized, bullied, isolated or afraid, with nowhere to turn. We need to step up, come together, and ensure that our children’s future is bright.”
Meanwhile, her husband’s party is at this very moment pushing to pass a healthcare bill that will put children in danger.
Just when it seems we’ve seen the worst, the Trump family continually proves there’s no floor to their shameless hypocrisy.
