Baltimore protestors are welcoming Trump into their city with a giant inflatable “Trump Rat”
The Baltimore Sun reports that Donald Trump’s visit to Baltimore today is being met with widespread protests. Of course, the president has only his self to blame for the less-than-warm welcome he’ll be receiving. He inflamed a feud with the city when—during a spat with Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD)— he referred to Baltimore as a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.” The insulting characterization was widely and reasonably interpreted as a racist sentiment and immediately provoked a wave of backlash. Now, the city is getting its revenge.
The president, who will be visiting Baltimore to speak to GOP Congressmen attending a retreat, will be confronted with a massive inflatable Trump rat on arrival. Even for a man as infamously dense as Donald Trump the message will be clear: you are not welcome here.

Claude Taylor, the man responsible for blowing up the murine president, spoke to The Baltimore Sun and explained that he and his associates regularly do “anti-Trump stuff” and that the 14-foot inflatable Trump rat feels like an appropriate form of protest for the president’s Baltimore visit. The protest balloon has also visited Newport Beach, California, Washington, D.C., and the president’s personal stomping ground down at Mar-a-Lago.
It’s a simple form of protest, but an effective one. For one thing, it’s certain to infuriate our thin-skinned president the moment his beady little eyes land on it. Perhaps more importantly, it will remind anyone who sees it of Trump’s racist comments about Baltimore. In this rapidly shifting media landscape, it’s all too easy for some of the more heinous things uttered by this man to disappear into the rearview. By keeping it in the front of peoples’ minds it ensures that no one forgets what a racist monster Trump is, which is absolutely crucial as we head into the 2020 election.
Come next November, the American people will finally have the chance to fumigate the Oval Office and drive out all the rats.
