Don Jr. just tried to link Ocasio-Cortez to the Cambodian genocide in bizarre Fox segment
The Republican media machine has decided that its absurd new line of attack against rising Democratic star Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is to try to tie her reasonable and well-intentioned calls for a better standard of living for Americans with the Cambodian genocide.
Trading on what they must presume is a profound ignorance of history amongst GOP voters, conservatives want to pretend that her brand of democratic socialism is identical to the communism of the Khmer Rouge, the brutal regime that facilitated the death of roughly 2 million Cambodians in the 1970s. Of course, what Republicans are failing to mention in their attacks is that the Khmer Rouge was able to come to power in part because Richard Nixon, a Republican president, destabilized the country with an expansive, extrajudicial bombing campaign.
This pathetic new political meme emerged last night with a shocking ad that ran during the Democratic debates.
This is the ad @ABC allowed to run during tonight's #DemDebate: right-wing propaganda depicting @AOC set on fire, burning into images of skeletons.
This is right out of the white nationalist playbook. No news network should be profiting off such hatred.pic.twitter.com/11g7k6hf3c

Now, Donald Trump Jr. is aping these talking points. The president’s profoundly ignorant, barely literate son appeared on Fox & Friends this morning. While discussing Democratic policy ideas, he brought up the Cambodian genocide, clearly drawing from the same behind-closed-doors conservative hivemind that gave birth to the odious advertisement last night.
“There’s no accountability, that’s why you can have these radical ideas and if you contest them, you know, you’re a racist,” he said, misrepresenting liberal ideas in the bad faith fashion hat only a Trump can.
“I think you maybe saw the AOC response to that… There was a Cambodian lady that put out this incredible ad who went through the, you know the Cambodian genocide, and 2 million people killed and the disaster that is socialism and communism that they’re all espousing, and this Cambodian woman, she’s racist. It’s not the answer for everything” he rambled. Given junior’s well-documented lack of knowledge on just about every subject under the sun, it seems unlikely that he has even a superficial familiarity with the particulars of the Cambodian tragedy
