New Trump attack ad openly brags about asking Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden

Now that he’s finally staring down the barrel of impeachment, the Trump administration has apparently decided to give up all pretense of denial and just lean in.

The Trump team unveiled their new strategy in a video message on Friday afternoon. In a classic Trump move, he’s decided that rather than try to pretend they didn’t do anything wrong, he’s openly admitting he tried to get Ukraine to interfere in the election because he cares so much about stopping corruption.

In a highly produced and absurdly dramatic video, Trump used footage of former Vice President Joe Biden speaking at Council of Foreign Relations event that appears to show him bragging about withhold $1 billion in aid from Ukraine unless they fired Ukranian prosecutor-general Victor Shokin because he was investigating the natural gas company Burisma, on whose board Hunter Biden sat and drew a $50,000 a month salary.

Of course, what actually happened is that the Obama administration pushed to have Shokin fired because he was not investigating Burisma. The Washington Post reports that Shokin was under fire from the international community for “thwarting a British money-laundering probe into Burisma’s owner, Mykola Zlochevsky.”

“Shokin was not investigating. He didn’t want to investigate Burisma… Shokin was fired not because he wanted to do that investigation, but quite to the contrary, because he failed that investigation,” explained the Ukranian Anti-Corruption Action Center’s Daria Kaleniuk to the Post.

The rest of the ad ridiculously asserts that it is Trump that is being punished by the Democrats for wanting to investigate Joe Biden’s corruption and that the President’s efforts to bully the Ukrainians into legitimizing his conspiracy theory is actually a noble, virtuous act.

While we should be asking ourselves why Joe Biden thought it was appropriate for his son to draw a huge salary from a Ukrainian natural gas company suspected of money laundering while he was the Vice President of the United States and the Obama administration’s point man on Ukraine, there is no evidence that anything remotely illegal transpired.

The Trump team has reportedly poured a staggering $10 million into blasting this lie-filled video across the nation, which offers a terrifying glimpse into just how dirty this upcoming election is going to be — and how imperative it is that we impeach Trump and hold him accountable for his flagrant efforts to interfere in yet another election.

Add your name to tell Congress to investigate Pence for his role in Trump’s Ukraine corruption. The VP is complicit!
