Trump smears Rashida Tlaib as “despicable” after she threatens to jail his cronies
Think about your own definition of a despicable human being.
Would it be applicable to someone who had torn the children of refugees from their families and locked them up in cages?
Or perhaps your definition would include the kind of person who would betray long-term allies and leave them threatened by genocide as payback for their support of American troops?
Maybe someone who would carry on adulterous affairs with sex industry celebrities, pay them off to avoid negative repercussions for his behavior, and then lie about both the affairs and the campaign finance violations that he employed to hide his shame? Someone who cheated on his taxes to maximize his inheritance?
The list could go on and on, but Donald Trump has a very different definition of despicable than you or I might have, one that avoids the mirror entirely and focuses on anyone who tries to hold him accountable for his criminal actions and those of his compliant enablers.
Trump revealed exactly whom he considers despicable in a retweet of a post made by his social media director Dan Scavino yesterday evening.
Scavino revealed his own cynically willful ignorance of constitutional rights and responsibilities with his comment on an article which detailed Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s (D-MI) revelation that Democrats in the House of Representatives are finally discussing the exercise of their constitutional prerogative to detain and fine anyone who defies a perfectly valid congressional subpoena.
The power of Congress to enforce its subpoenas with inherent contempt citations that can result in fines and imprisonment has long been established as valid by the Supreme Court, but Scavino ignored all legal precedents to label any discussion of Congressional use of the full constitutional powers at its disposal as an attempt at a coup against Donald Trump, echoing the president’s frequently tweeted sentiments.
Sounds about right. COUP! https://t.co/IuoTQJrIU6

When Trump tried to amplify Scavino’s deceitful propaganda by retweeting it, he added his own commentary that exposed his own definition of despicable.
A despicable human being! https://t.co/3KpgUuRaXU

Unfortunately, for the president, the formatting of the retweet on the social media platform hides the link to the article that Scavino referred to in making his ludicrous accusation towards the Democrats and Congresswoman Tlaib and left his tweet subject to the interpretation that it is his own social media director whom he is labeling “A despicable human being!”
While that interpretation is undoubtedly quite reasonable given Scavino’s role in perpetuating Trump’s lies across social media, refer back to your own definition of despicability and ask yourself whether this is yet another instance of psychological projection by the narcissistic president wherein he attributes his own worst traits upon others.
Twitter denizens seemed to agree.

You are a murderer, @realDonaldTrump.

You are! And you don’t follow the law and will be detained. Tell your former caddy Scavino that a coup is, by definition, a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government. Which is exactly what your #TurdReich has done, you demented defecatory dysfunction.

Be great to hear whether this is a coup from someone who you are not actively breastfeeding.

Renaming your biography, again?

After all, when it comes to despicability, Donald Trump for once truly outdoes everyone else. It is the only area in which he excels, as he falsely claims to do in every other endeavor in his life.
