Pelosi fires back at Trump over his Ukraine scandal denials: “everybody’s read your words”

The media battles that accompany the battle to impeach a president have changed significantly since the days of the Nixon and even the Clinton impeachment efforts.

Nowadays, rather than issue competing press releases and wait for them to filter down to the public through various media intermediaries, the embattled president and his crusading opponents can each deliver their diametrically opposed messages directly to the masses through the magic of social media.

With the daily revelations of additional incriminating testimony — new admissions from eyewitnesses that confirm the reality of the Trump administration’s quid pro quo attempts to withhold military aid dollars and a meeting with the president in exchange for politically useful damaging information — the impeachment noose around Trump’s neck is figuratively tightening and he is lashing out on Twitter at Democrats out of what can only be interpreted as a combination of intense frustration at having his crimes exposed and abject fear of the consequences of being removed from office.

Add your name to tell Congress to investigate Pence for his role in Trump’s Ukraine corruption. The VP is complicit!

As executive branch employees increasingly feel unintimidated by the constitutionally-dubious White House proclamation of unlimited executive privilege and defy the administration by respecting congressional subpoenas, Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi traded tweets as they each fired their own shots in the propaganda wars surrounding the impeachment.

Trump began with an attack that obviously aimed at Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman — the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council and the first person who actually participated in the phone call between the president and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to testify before Congress — before he was scheduled to appear to speak to the legislators running the House impeachment inquiries.

Trump’s continued description of the incriminating call as perfect and appropriate — something that the vast majority of people who do actually read the transcript of the call would hardly characterize in the same way — inspired Speaker Pelosi to respond with a blow by blow description of the call and what was so undeniably improper about it.

Obviously undeterred by Trump’s attempts at spinning the clear facts of the situation into a gaslighting denial essentially saying “there’s nothing to see here folks, so just move along now,” Pelosi parries Trump’s lies with a simple statement of the facts.

Faced with such a clear repudiation of his interpretation of the call, the president doesn’t even bother to give his lies another shot.

Instead, Trump simply goes on the attack against the Democrats — singling out Speaker Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) for special abuse.

With the opening statement by Lt. Col. Vindman in his congressional testimony clearly confirming the existence of a quid pro quo in the Ukraine call, Trump is desperately lashing out at his investigators, painting Pelosi as a demonic destroyer of the GOP and pointing to his singular internal polling as predicting a virtual red wave in the next election due to his persecution by these falsely-labeled “Do Nothing Dems.”

One must point out that the reason that Trump’s internal polls indicate such tremendous support for the president and his Republican colleagues is the president’s penchant for firing any polling company that delivers results that are not to his liking.

Garbage in, garbage out as the saying goes, and nobody is as full of garbage as Donald Trump.

We can all look forward to further desperate attempts to counter the quickly unfolding evidence as Trump’s house of cards begins to crumble, but eventually, the truth will prevail and Donald Trump will go to jail…unless a face-saving negotiated pardon merely sends him into foreign exile to escape prosecution on state charges. We hear that the Kremlin has plenty of spare bedrooms.
