Trump insists his Kentucky rally had a “massive impact” on governor’s race his party just lost

President Trump and the entire Republican Party was dealt a stunning defeat tonight when Democratic candidate Andy Beshear defeated incumbent Mark Bevin and flipped the governorship of Kentucky to blue.

The race was watched with hawk-eyed scrutiny by the entire American political establishment in order to see whether or not voters would reward or punish a politician who vehemently supported Trump and rejected impeachment — but not even an 11th hour Trump rally was enough to push him over the edge.

At that rally, the President begged voters to help Bevin win his election, knowing that a defeat would immediately be seen as a turning point in public opinion for his ongoing impeachment inquiry. Perhaps most worryingly for Trump, Bevin’s defeat will set off alarm bells among wavering Republicans who are calculating whether or not they can risk going against Trump and supporting impeachment without being punished for it at the ballot box.

Add your name to tell Congress to investigate Pence for his role in Trump’s Ukraine corruption. The VP is complicit!

“You can’t let that happen to me!” begged Trump.

But happen it did, and the president was forced to take to Twitter and touted how his rally last night had resulted in “at least 15, maybe 20!” point increase in comparison to the polls.

Of course, being Trump, that number changed three times during his tweeting spree in the same evening!

To top it all of, it wasn’t even true!

It is truly pathetic to see the president stooping this low in order to make himself feel better and to try to prove to the nation that this wasn’t a humiliating defeat that may or may not be the harbinger of a blue wave in 2020 that not only sweeps the president out of the White House but also turns previous red strongholds like, say, Texas, into Democratic pickups.
