Trump’s surprise visit to Walter Reed hospital sparks speculation about health-related “resignation”

Donald Trump made a previously unannounced and unexpected visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center today, supposedly for the purpose of completing “portions” of his annual physical, three months ahead of the usual schedule for such examinations.

The sudden move without prior notice inspired a round of speculation among political observers over whether the visit was part of an elaborate plot by the Republican party to have the president resign for “health reasons” now that the impeachment evidence against him seems irrefutable and likely to only get worse as additional witnesses testify about the bribery and extortion plot to taint the 2020 presidential elections with foreign interference.

After Trump returned to the White House from the house of white-coated doctors, press secretary Stephanie Grisham declared that Trump was “healthy” and “without complaints.”

Add your name to tell Congress to investigate Pence for his role in Trump’s Ukraine corruption. The VP is complicit!

Judging from the president’s Twitter feed, it can be safely said that the second half of Grisham’s status report on Trump was a total lie since that social media account has been filled with complaints daily since the president first came under investigation by the staff on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team.

Oddly, one of the most prominent voices espousing the theory that the presidential physical was a sham exam meant to set up a denouement for the Trump administration that does not involve a long prison sentence was a member of the Republican Party, the proudly never-Trumper pundit Cheri Jacobus.

Jacobus explained her reasoning in a pair of Saturday afternoon tweets.

“Guilty as hell” and “nowhere left to run and hide,” seem fairly accurate given this week’s testimony from the congressional impeachment hearings.

While Trump would be able to escape federal prosecution and the distinction of becoming the first president to successfully be impeached under the scenario that Jacobus outlines, a pardon by President Pence — who himself has been implicated in the Ukraine bribery scheme by his participation in numerous meetings regarding the region — will not protect Trump from prosecutions for state crimes.

For that reason alone, some may discount the theory that Jacobus is proposing in favor of a Trump fight against impeachment to the very last moment.

While the prospect of losing the impeachment battle may alone be enough to put Trump in a hospital, the simple addition of foreign exile to a country with no extradition treaty with the United States — a country like Russia perhaps? — to Jacobus’ formula for the president’s escape from his current predicament would eliminate any possibility that the color of Trump’s post-presidential wardrobe will match the color of his spray-tanned orange skin.

Such a face-saving exit for Trump is surely within the realm of possibility. If it does happen, however, expect a sudden miraculous recovery due to Russian medical miracles and a robust remote anti-Democratic propaganda campaign on social media launched from the safe confines of exile. That’s an end that will serve both Trump and Russian President Putin quite well.
