The fed-up whistleblower’s lawyer publicly torches Jim Jordan for lying in hearing

Since Donald Trump took office, learning to lie with impunity has become part and parcel of the job responsibilities for nearly every Republican politician.

In order to join the elite team of cronies tasked with defending the president on cable news programs and in congressional impeachment hearings, a GOP legislator must learn to ignore facts, belittle the truth, and spread disinformation and falsehoods both while smiling for the cameras and while screaming angry accusations at the fact witnesses currently testifying before the impeachment inquiry.

It’s such an important role that Republican leadership in the House of Representatives sent in their star pinch hitter — that locker-room tested prevaricator who is apparently allergic to wearing his suit jacket — Congressman Jim “Gym” Jordan (R-OH) to grill witnesses in the impeachment hearings.

Add your name to tell Congress to investigate Pence for his role in Trump’s Ukraine corruption. The VP is complicit!

For Jordan, the recipe for a successful grilling is to throw the witness on the fire and turn up the heat to incineration levels with the resulting charred carcass left to sizzle after being illiberally doused with a seasoning of lies and false innuendo.

Jordan’s aggressive showboating performance in the impeachment hearings doesn’t always serve his own ends, much less the case of justice, however.

The sexual molestation-ignoring congressman was put firmly in his place today when he tried to intimidate one witness, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, by questioning his judgment and implying that he lacked the respect of his colleagues.

Vindman shut Jordan down by quoting a performance evaluation from this past July that described him as “brilliant, unflappable, and exercises excellent judgment.” The National Security Council official showed remarkable restraint by not referencing in his response Jordan’s own lack of judgment when it came to failing to report the sexual abuse of student-athletes when he was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University.

Representative Jordan was also condemned today by the attorney representing the whistleblower who brought the allegations of presidential misconduct to light.

Lawyer Andrew Bakaj accused Jordan of spreading lies and promulgating wild conspiracy theories during the hearings and in his subsequent comments to the media in a devastatingly bitter tweet.

Technically, the whistleblower didn’t only hire Bakaj. The still-unidentified patriot also hired a second attorney to represent him, Mark Zaid, who was equally distressed by Jordan and the other GOP members of Congress who have been courting Donald Trump’s favor by waging a proxy war against the whistleblower and the attorneys representing the unknown informer.

Zaid’s reference to the hypocrisy of Republicans — who seem to have separate sets of rules for investigations that they conduct against their political opponents than they have for inquiries into the crimes of their fellow party members — is an appropriate topic to discuss in regards to Congressman Jordan.

What better way to describe a man who ignored the abuse of young wrestlers by a team doctor— an abuse that at least three of the victims have sworn that he knew about — while he’s attacking the integrity of witnesses against the Trump administration than as a sanctimonious hypocrite?

It’s time to send Jim Jordan back to the minor leagues. The big leagues need someone with a lot less spin on their pitches.
