“Our greatest of all presidents”: Trump elevates himself in self-aggrandizing tweet

For all of the innumerable faults of Donald Trump, the one flaw that no one can successfully accuse him of ever suffering from is low self-esteem.

Typical of someone born to unearned wealth and privilege — and suffering from a narcissistic personality disorder — Trump apparently considers his mere presence on earth as a gift to all creation and takes his superiority to every other human being as a given.

While the president’s opponents have jokingly accused Trump of spending a good deal of his free time envisioning the monuments that will be built in his honor — with the addition of his jowled visage to Mount Rushmore on the top of his list — his latest tweet suggests that he won’t be satisfied being portrayed in the company of the revered presidents of the past since he considers them to be his inferiors in the art of being presidential.

Apparently, the qualifications for becoming the “greatest of all presidents” include beginning your tweets by quoting outright lies about exactly who is responsible for the inability of Congress to pass legislation on infrastructure, gun law reform, immigration, and a host of other crucial issues.

Add your name to demand an investigation into Devin Nunes for conspiring with Giuliani and Trump to extort Ukraine!

While the quote Trump tweeted from Fox and Friends host Pete Hegseth blames the Democrats, all but the most leaden, brainwashed consumers of right-wing media know by now that the self-proclaimed “Grim Reaper” of the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, is the man responsible for the congressional legislative logjam since he refuses to even bring the nearly 400 bills that the Democratic House of Representatives has already passed up for a vote in the Senate.

Trump’s keen sensitivity to the polls, particularly in the swing states with early primaries that he singles out, betrays his terror at losing the next election and suddenly becoming eligible for the indictments that the current Justice Department insists that he is currently immune from as a sitting president.

Besides exuding egotistical excess, Trump’s concluding line mirrors the first sentence in his tweet in that it is also a complete lie.

The latest polls at FiveThirtyEight.com concerning Americans’ support for impeachment show a plurality of the population continuing to support impeachment as they have continuously since the news about the Ukraine extortion scandal broke in September.

With 47.7% believing that Trump should be impeached compared to the 43.8% who don’t support it, the stark reminder that he has always been a president elected by a minority of the popular vote because of the distortions of the electoral college is coming home to roost.

Trump’s reference to himself as the “greatest of all presidents” should inspire Democrats to add one more item to their list of impeachable offenses — historical and constitutional blasphemy.
