How boring can life at Mar-a-Lago really be if Donald Trump spends his free time there reading the Breitbart News Twitter feed and retweeting their gems of alt-right propaganda as if it were some sacred screed?
While the president surely is spending a copious amount of time on the golf course and is likely scheming with his advisors to figure out the best way to frustrate the Democrats’ impeachment plans, he somehow found the time to retweet Breitbart’s recap of 2019’s most embarrassing moments from one of Trump’s favorite punching bags from the cable news network he loves to hate the most: CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
As the younger brother of New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and the son of former NY Governor Mario Cuomo, Chris is obviously of Italian descent.
It’s only natural then that the president — who subscribes to the most demeaning stereotypes available for any given ethnic group — would be referring to the noted prime time CNN anchor with a Godfather reference.
He is Fake News, will always be Fredo to us. I should release some of his dishonest interviews? Coupled with bad ratings, he’d be out! https://t.co/eEk6pdSRnV

Trump, of course, isn’t the first person to call Chris Cuomo “Fredo.” In fact, number one on Breitbart’s list of the anchor’s most embarrassing moments of 2019 is Cuomo’s reaction to a man who had the temerity to call him that derogatory term to his face.
The video of Cuomo’s response went viral with the anchor telling the offending party:
“No. Punk ass bitches on the right call me Fredo. My name is Chris Cuomo. I’m an anchor on CNN,” Cuomo said. “Fredo is from The Godfather. He was the weak brother.”
As Breitbart reports the incident, the angry journalist nearly came to blows with his verbal assailant.
“He suggested that “Fredo” was equivalent to the “N-word” to Italians and hurled insults at the man, even daring him to punch him,” the right-wing web site said.
“’If you want to play, then we’ll fucking play,’ Cuomo said, calling the man a ‘punk bitch.’”
“’You know my name is not fucking Fredo,’ he said, adding, ‘I’ll fucking ruin your shit.’”
“’I’ll fucking throw you down these stairs like a fucking punk,’ he threatened,” Breitbart relayed Cuomo’s reply to what he obviously saw as fighting words.
With Cuomo’s sensitivities revealed by his anger, Trump took the coward’s way out in repeating the offending epithet far from Cuomo’s physical presence — not that the Secret Service would ever let the newsman give the president his just desserts anyway.
The pettiness, dishonesty, and generally enormous character flaws possessed by this president exceed his prior lows on a daily basis.
Oh, for the days when he will be as far gone from the public consciousness as Andrew Johnson, his first predecessor in Republican presidential impeachment, is today.
