“When he calls someone crazy, he knows that he is”: Pelosi hits back at Trump after derisive tweets

Donald Trump took another few swipes at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Twitter this morning, calling her “Crazy Nancy” in one tweet and labeling her “Nervous Nancy” in another.

The Speaker managed to hit back at the president when she did appear with George Stephanopolous on ABC’s This Week with an acidic reply to his increasingly desperate attacks on her as the architect of Trump’s impeachment.

“Let me just say, it’s Sunday morning, I’d like to talk about some more pleasant subjects than the erratic nature of this president of the United States, but he has to know that every knock from him is a boost,” Pelosi said, throwing the ball back to the president’s court.

The leader of the House Democrats also responded to Trump’s assertion, made on Fox News on Friday, that Pelosi is “obsessed with impeachment.”

McConnell admitted coordinating impeachment with Trump. Add your name to demand he recuse himself from the trial!

Saying that Trump had previously condemned her for not overseeing the impeachment of President George W. Bush over the Iraq war, she reiterated her opinion that although Donald Trump wasn’t worth impeachment, his behavior so flagrantly violated constitutional norms that it “could not be ignored.”

Pelosi also made note of the reason behind her earlier comments that every time Trump attacks her it’s actually a “boost” by pointing out the president’s penchant for projection, attributing to others that of which he himself is most guilty.

“So again, I don’t like to spend too much time on his crazy tweets, because everything he says is a projection,” the Speaker explained. “When he calls someone crazy he knows that he is. Everything he says you can just translate it back to who he is.”

“Let’s be optimistic about the future, a future that will not have Donald Trump in the White House one way or another,” she sunnily predicted.

Touche´, Madame Speaker, touche´.

With Pelosi having said that she will transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate this week, despite the lack of agreement with that chamber’s Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) over the rules of  Trump’s trial and whether witnesses will be allowed, we can expect the back and forth parrying between the president and the most powerful woman in the country to intensify in the days ahead.
