The Republican-controlled Senate may have acquitted President Trump in his impeachment trial but only a fool would think he’s been truly exonerated. The simple, pathetic truth is that he grossly abused the powers of his office in an effort to undermine the 2020 election but GOP senators, with the notable exception of Mitt Romney, proved too cowardly to vote to remove him.
The message is clear: Republicans will stand by idly as Trump dismantles our democracy if it means they get to remain in power. Not surprisingly, the acquittal has greatly emboldened the already lawless Trump.
This morning, he took to Twitter to rant about how “badly” Democrats did with their “Impeachment Hoax” and baselessly predicted that it would result in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) successfully primarying “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer,” known to those of us without the sensibilities of a child simply as Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Trump also predicted that Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) has a “good chance of losing to his far left primary opponent.” On top of that, he claimed that Speaker Pelosi will lose control of the House.
The prognostications are, of course, nothing more than wishful thinking on Trump’s part. There is no evidence that any of these things will come to pass and the Democratic Party has a great shot at not only keeping the House but seizing the White House this November. The president is deeply unpopular, woefully incompetent, and demonstrably corrupt.
Trump rounded off his little fantasizing session by patting himself on the back for his “great” poll numbers. As usual, he was congratulating himself for no reason. According to FiveThirtyEight Trump’s approval rating is about 43.9% with a disapproval of 51.7%. In other words, he’s bragging that less than half the country thinks he’s doing a good job.
Any levelheaded reading of these numbers would indicate that Trump is in serious trouble going into the upcoming election, so we can reasonably expect more delusional efforts like this as he tries to pump up his deflating ego. Don’t buy into it. Democrats have the opportunity to eject this monster from the White House and steer our nation back on course. Vote.
Because of how badly they did with the Impeachment Hoax, AOC will primary Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and win, and Jerry Nadler has a good chance of losing to his far left primary opponent! It is all getting quite interesting. Pelosi will lose the House, AGAIN! My poll numbers great.
