WDRB reports that police in Louisville, Kentucky are investigating an incident that occurred last Friday during which a white man attacked a group of young women and ending up singling out the only Black woman in the group to choke. The violent interaction was caught on video and subsequently spread like wildfire across Twitter.
According to the police report, the woman who was briefly strangled suffered from injuries because the “suspect applied pressure to victim’s throat and impeded her breathing.” If charges are brought, the report reveals that the man could face felony strangulation in 1st degree in an eventual court case.
The assailant grew seemingly infuriated that the women were not practicing social distancing to his satisfaction. Shockingly, the man is a physician at Southern Indiana Anesthesia Consultants. According to a statement released by the organization, the man has been placed on leave and “was not on official call or due to report to the hospital in any official capacity.”
WDRB adds that the doctor has also been placed on leave by Baptist Health, where he works as “an independent physician.”
While it’s important to recognize that healthcare professionals, as well as their concerned families and friends, are under tremendous psychological and emotional stress due to COVID-19, it in no way excuses this kind of violent lashing out.
The disturbing video is embedded below. It shows the man referring to one of the women as an “a**hole” and pushing her, at which point the women understandably respond with alarm before weathering the rest of his attack.
While the Twitter account that shared this clip states the doctor intended to kill the girl, there is no reporting to back up that interpretation.
This is a Doctor in Louisville singling out a black girl and strangling to kill her over social distancing.
This comes after two white Doctors in France suggested we should using Africans as human guinea pigs.
This is what that looks like.
