Ocasio-Cortez scorches Huckabee Sanders for accusing her of not working hard enough
In an interview with Vice TV released on Wednesday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made a compelling argument that the coronavirus, as horrific as it’s proving to be, could offer an opportunity for workers to improve their quality of life by refusing to simply return to work without concessions.
“When we have this discussion about going back or ‘reopening’ I think a lot people should just say: ‘No we’re not going back to that. We’re not going back to working seventy hour weeks just so that we could put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives,” she said.
It’s a reasonable idea and Americans should give serious thought to collectively bargaining for better pay and benefits when this crisis finally starts to wind down.
Only in America does "liberation" mean going back to work.@AOC sits down with @anandwrites to talk about why a return to normalcy isn't enough in a post-coronavirus world. SEAT AT THE TABLE premieres tonight at 10p. #seatatthetable pic.twitter.com/fNE9reHeKG

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former White House Press Secretary for Donald Trump and infamous liar, apparently saw AOC’s compassionate call for better working conditions and decided to do the bidding of her party’s plutocratic benefactors. Republicans are determined to defend a status quo in which workers are habitually underpaid and mistreated because it’s better for the ruling class’s bottom line.
“@AOC says Americans should boycott work. As usual she’s wrong,” Huckabee Sanders tweeted without a trace of irony. “The goal should be for Americans to SAFELY return to work because unlike AOC and members of Congress, most of us actually have to show up at work to get paid and support our families!”
The idea of Huckabee Sanders, a woman who was paid to gleefully lie for the worst president in American history, doing any kind of meaningful, societally contributive “work” is downright laughable. Her commentary can be safely and confidently disregarded by Americans for the rest of her life.

As she often does, Ocasio-Cortez was quick to respond to the bad faith attack and did so by making quick work Huckabee Sanders and her disgraceful record.
“Look who’s talking about showing up for work! The woman didn’t hold a press conference for months while holding a job as press sec,” wrote AOC.
“If you’re so supportive of this admin’s plan, why don’t you go out and try delivering groceries for a living w/o health insurance or mass testing?” the Congresswoman added.
Maybe next time Huckabee Sanders will think twice before trying to take on someone who truly advocates for the American people instead of simply giving lip service to it like she does.
