Trump erupts at Chuck Schumer in immature, insulting tweets over latest TV appearance
President Trump began his Friday morning with an infantile and insulting Twitter attack on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
It appears Sen. Schumer had been on television the night before and complained about the lack of COVID-19 testing still being done in the United States, which the President then watched during the “morning briefings” his TiVO provides him and provoked the outburst.
Trump claimed Schumer had been using a “false talking point,” accused him of lying and then appeared to urge fellow New Yorker Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to run a primary campaign for Schumer’s seat.
Cryin’ Chuck Schumer was on a late night show using a false talking point over & over again. “We don’t have enough testing ,” he would repeat, when he knows we have done a great job on Testing, just like we have on Ventilators and everything else. He lied, gave NY SALT. Run AOC!

Not finished there, Trump doubled down and declared that Schumer has “brought back little” for the state of New York and dismissed him as a “totally overrated loser” who only gave “salt” and who Governor Cuomo “can’t stand.”
Cryin Chuck Schumer, compared to what other Senators have brought home to their states, has brought very little back to N.Y. A totally overrated loser, the one thing he has given them is SALT. He never even called me to stop it. No wonder Cuomo & most others can’t stand him. AOC!

President Trump has spent most of the week attempting to convince the nation that our COVID-19 testing program is both adequate and superior to those in other nations, all thanks to Donald Trump, when in reality it is far from adequate and inferior to those in other nations, all thanks to Donald Trump.
Just this morning, Capitol Hill physicians announced they don’t have the capacity to test all 100 United States Senators ahead of the lawmakers’ return to work on Monday. If we can’t even test all of the members of our nation’s highest lawmaking body, we clearly do not have enough testing!
It’s clear that ominous polling data and dour economic projections are taking a heavy toll on the President as he grapples with the possibility of losing the election this November — and he’s responding to it with the only way he knows how: lies, insults, and empty bravado.
This appears to have been the offending late-night show:
I told @StephenAtHome that now is not the time to go licking doorknobs. https://t.co/mXyizRf2Xy
