The Daily Wire posts bizarre article seemingly blaming Rep. Ocasio-Cortez for baby’s shooting
Americans across the country are struggling to come to grips with the recent outbreaks of deadly gun violence in major cities as summer begins — but the right-wing ghouls over at Ben Shapiro’s website the Daily Wire know exactly who is to blame:

In a stunning and revealing indulgence of the right-wing male’s pathological obsession with the outspoken Democratic Congresswoman, the Daily Wire posted a story to their Twitter today that appeared to insinuate that it was Ocasio-Cortez was somehow involved in the tragic slaying of an infant by putting her picture on what is obviously an unrelated story.
Halfway through this story, the Daily Wire’s Amanda Prestigiacomo decides that it’s AOC who is the real villain here. Attempting to paint her as ignorant and incompetent, Prestigiacomo took AOC’s explanation for the rise in New York’s burglaries and shoplifting out of context.
“The gut-wrenching shooting of the innocent child happened on the same day Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) rationalized the massive surge of crime in New York City as a byproduct of pandemic-related poverty. On Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez seemingly blamed the surge in NYC crime on financial struggles sparked by the coronavirus response, claiming that folks are ‘scared to pay their rent.’ She also claimed the police cutbacks in NYC are ‘not real” sneered Prestigiacomo after lazily failing to write any kind of transition into her AOC-bashing section. “The congresswoman’s remarks come on the heels of NYPD cutbacks and incessant calls by far-left activists to ‘defund the police,’ which were echoed by AOC herself.”
It certainly follows that the rise in petty property crimes would be motivated by the fact that tens of millions of people are out of a job thanks to the coronavirus crisis and have been completely abandoned by their Republican-led government, but right-wing feelings certainly get in the way of facts when it comes to anything Ocasio-Cortez says.
Prestigiacomo did not mention that law enforcement officials have discovered the uptick in shootings is tied to gang violence as drug dealers fight over territory, nor did she mention that the right-wing’s rabid opposition to any kind of commonsense gun reform is the leading enabler of America’s incessant epidemic of gun violence.
But it really just goes to show how deeply obsessed Ben Shapiro and his writers are with Ocasio-Cortez — and how low they’ll go in their efforts to smear her.
