Video shows white man screaming racial and homophobic slurs at passerbys; police shrug shoulders
It is interesting to see the way that police in America will or will not respond to certain actions by certain people. It’s pretty safe to say that if a Black man was wandering around the streets screaming racial and homophobic slurs at him, there would be six cars and a helicopter on the scene within seconds before he was violently taken into custody for disturbing the peace or refusing to comply with an officer.
But the police in Sioux Falls proved that if you’re a white man wandering around the streets screaming slurs at people, there’s nothing they can do! That’s just free speech!
Video shows this man screaming “n****r” and “f****t” at people going about their business. He gets into a confrontation with an angry bystander and furiously screams “HOW MUCH VIOLENCE AGAINST FREEDOM OF SPEECH WILL YOU ALLOW?”
When reached for comment, the police shrugged their shoulders.
“What he’s doing really falls under free speech, so there’s really no laws that are broken…There’s probably not a whole lot of things we can do in a situation like that, but sometimes having officers come and talk to people is enough to maybe persuade them to go somewhere else,” said spokesman Sam Clemens to the Argus Leader.
It is almost impossible to imagine him saying the same thing if the perpetrator had not been a white man.
