Conservative group quietly deletes anti-mask meme after cofounder dies of COVID-19

While nobody celebrates any deaths from the horrors of the novel coronavirus, there is certainly some irony to be found in watching right-wingers who promoted hydroxychloroquine disinformation, anti-mask propaganda, and anti-Chinese racism lose their lives to the disease they told people not to worry about.

The right-wing astroturf student group Turning Point USA was roundly mocked on Twitter after they quietly deleted a meme that glorified anti-masking after their co-founder died of complications from COVID-19.

Bill Montgomery started the group in 2012 with the current face of the organization, the eminently punchable and painfully stupid Charlie Kirk, in order to make conservatism more appealing to young people. They are most famous for their Kent State chapter conducted a “safe space” protest wearing diapers, an incident which humiliated the group so badly it caused a major internal fight.

Since the COVID-19 crisis began, the group has been publicly opposed to mask-wearing and thus helping stop the spread of COVID-19. Kirk was briefly banned from Twitter for falsely claiming that hydroxychloroquine was “100% effective” in curing the novel coronavirus and has publicly stated that he is not going to wear a mask.

“Do not force me to wear a mask, it’s that simple. I’m not gonna do it, I’m not,” said Kirk on a recent episode of his podcast.

It really goes to show how nihilistically callous the conservative death cult has become. 150,000 Americans have died and they still are committed to pretending that the crisis is overblown, promoting pseudoscientific conspiracy theories about magic cures, and pushing for schoolchildren to infect their families and teachers.
