Steve Miller sparks outrage by trashing Obama’s beautiful John Lewis eulogy

White House Senior Advisor Stephen Miller appears less frequently on television than he did in the early days of the Trump administration, but his time away from the cameras has done nothing to make him any less repulsive to those of us with any kind of morals. The president’s pet fascist is every bit as ideologically odious as ever and it’s perhaps not surprising that it was the eulogy of a Black Congressman delivered by a former Black president that brought him skittering back out into the light.

Miller appeared on Fox & Friends this morning and attacked Obama for his supposedly “shockingly political” speech at Rep. John Lewis’s funeral. He was referring to a section in the former president’s speech where Obama advocated for voting reform policies. The so-called “political” nature of the remarks was perfectly appropriate given the fact that Lewis was a Civil Rights icon whose life’s work was pushing for better voting rights laws and improved enfranchisement.

“That was shockingly political for a funeral service, but it’s also totally disconnected from reality. It is scandalously, outrageously false,” claimed Miller, a man who regularly concocts vile lies for his boss to spew to the world.

Add your name to demand Congress reject Trump’s dictatorial call to delay the election!

Miller’s attack on Obama serves two purposes for the White House. It excites the racist MAGA voters who are still incensed that a Black man once held the Oval Office and it also allows the admin to disregard Obama’s actual message about voting.

The GOP is desperate to suppress turnout this election cycle because they know that if Americans show up en masse Trump’s deep unpopularity will likely lose him the White House. It’s the same agenda behind their constant (and incorrect) claims that mail-in voting leads to fraud.

As usual, Miller’s comments can be dismissed as being made in total bad faith. The man is a demonstrated racist with no regard for the truth and a desire to hold onto his ill-gotten own power at any cost. Instead of giving him our time, we should turn our hearts and minds to Obama’s beautiful speech. His words about voting are more important than ever.

“Even as we sit here, there are those in power who are doing their darnedest to discourage people from voting by closing polling locations and targeting minorities and students with restrictive ID laws and attacking our voting rights with surgical precision, even undermining the Postal Service in the run-up to an election that’s going to be dependent on mail-in ballots so people don’t get sick,” said the former president.
