It’s almost like a principle of physics.
Whenever the latest news leak about the most recent detail of something outrageously and objectively horrendous done or said by Donald Trump is publicly revealed, there is an equal and opposite reaction by the president to do or say something proportionately horrendous to most of us — but reinforcing the most despicable instincts of his deplorable base — to distract the public from the sad and damaging facts of his misdeed.
With the news of Trump’s shocking comments regarding those who have served and lost their lives defending the United States in the military as “losers” and “suckers” — as alleged in a new article in The Atlantic — the president had to marshall his counter-measures quickly.
After a day of harsh criticism that found even Fox News forced to admit that the allegations were not indeed “FAKE NEWS!” — as Trump invariably claims — the president found the distraction that he must have felt would be the best bright and shiny object to toss to his base to draw attention away from the essential depravity of his psyche.
A quick perusal of Trump’s Twitter feed this morning demonstrates an all-out push to change the subject from the president’s disrespect for soldiers and veterans to what Trump believes is an anti-white bias in the racial sensitivity training offered by government agencies.
Trump Orders Purge of ‘Critical Race Theory‘ from Federal Agencies https://t.co/ygXcTXRHsQ via @BreitbartNews This is a sickness that cannot be allowed to continue. Please report any sightings so we can quickly extinguish!

Trump ordered the end of these training sessions late yesterday as the combination of right-wing violence directed against the continued BLM protests over the wanton killings of unarmed African Americans — by police who are often held outside the boundaries of the law by the controversial doctrine of qualified immunity — and his disgusting attitude towards the people patriotically serving in the armed forces exploded in a flood of negative media coverage during a re-election battle that shows the president badly trailing his Democratic opponent Joe Biden.
A White House statement declared that Trump was ordering an end to racial sensitivity training designed to eradicate racist behavior because in his view it is “un-American propaganda.”
“According to press reports, employees across the Executive Branch have been required to attend trainings where they are told that ‘virtually all White people contribute to racism’ or where they are required to say that they ‘benefit from racism,’” the White House statement declares.
The White House Office of Management and Budget has been told to “ensure that Federal agencies cease and desist from using taxpayer dollars to fund these divisive, un-American propaganda training sessions.”
Forget the reams of statistics that show the demonstrable disparities in income, education, housing, job opportunities, and so many other areas where the effects of systemic racism over the centuries of our nation’s existence have played out.
Yes, in the president’s mind apparently it is White America that is the victim of systemic racism by virtue of being confronted with how that legacy is continuing to play out, and, in fact, has come roaring back to an extended revival due to Donald Trump’s constant reminders that outright racism is perfectly acceptable behavior among those “fine people on both sides,” including the neo-Nazis, the KKK, the Proud Boys, the Boogie Boys, QAnon and other shadowy radical extremist groups on the right.
Ignore whatever latest distraction Trump tries to throw to his slobbering base.
He must be defeated and removed from office before the country descends into the civil war that he seems to prefer over the thought of losing a legitimate election and facing prosecution in the myriad of civil and likely criminal cases that he will face once his presidential immunity is gone.
Once he is out of office, he can try to distract us from his evil escapades all that he wants.
With his hands off the levers of power and the nuclear codes out of reach, we just won’t care and won’t pay attention.
