Let this sink in.
The President of the United States just called on his followers to harass a private citizen of this country because of the exercise of her free rights to express her own political opinions.
Donald Trump unleashed his invective on, of course, Twitter as he attacked the widow of the late, Syrian-descended Steve Jobs, the acknowledged genius behind the success of the most successful electronics company in American history, Apple.
To understand why the president is urging his supporters to pile upon Laurene Powell Jobs, it helps to know that among the many charitable endeavors that she has undertaken with her sizeable fortune, she also invested part of her considerable wealth in a majority stake in The Atlantic, the magazine that published the story detailing Trump’s alleged comments calling America’s armed forces members “losers” and “suckers,” among other choice derogatory insults towards the military.
Steve Jobs would not be happy that his wife is wasting money he left her on a failing Radical Left Magazine that is run by a con man (Goldberg) and spews FAKE NEWS & HATE. Call her, write her, let her know how you feel!!! https://t.co/wwuoP85bQE

Aside from the audacity of assuming that the president would know more of what the late Mr. Jobs would or would not be happy about than the woman he shared his life with, Trump’s obviously angry bluster verges into libelous territory with its characterization of The Atlantic as “a failing Radical Left Magazine that is run by a con man (Goldberg) and spews FAKE NEWS & HATE.”
Sadly this type of character assassination from the president — and his attempt to rabble rouse his base into delivering a wave of hate towards his indirect antagonist — may be only a dry run for what he may do once he loses the November presidential election.
Trump’s litany of lies and bigotry has already inspired some of his supporters to shoot up synagogues, mail pipe bombs to Democratic politicians and members of the media, and drive cars through crowds of protestors.
Imagine if, when he loses the election, Trump — with the fear of impending prosecutions weighing heavily on his mind — calls upon his legions of deplorables who own assault weapons to take up arms to dispute the election results.
The horrifying part of this previously unimaginable scenario is the fact that in light of the recent unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Portland, Oregon, one need not stretch one’s imagination very far to see how plausible of an impending future that the idea of this happening actually is.
Perhaps the best way to respond to this heinous attack on Ms. Jobs is to turn the concept around to ask how the president’s own dead relations would respond to his current actions.
Fred Trump would not be happy that his son squandered his inheritance in multiple bankruptcies and destroyed America by spewing lies and actual “FAKE NEWS & HATE.”
Call him, write him, but, most of all, let him know how you feel by voting against him and the entire complicit Republican party in the November elections.
