A panicked Trump declares himself “immune,” slams negative polls as “Fake News” in AM tweets.
Donald Trump’s doctors may have declared that the president is so coronavirus-free that he is no longer infectious, but one would think that he was still hopped up in a steroid-induced frenzy if one were to read his Twitter feed this morning.
On a day when The New York Times featured a front-page story about the persistent “brain fog” — likened to dementia — affecting survivors of COVID-19 infections, it was difficult to tell whether Trump’s rants this morning about packing the Supreme Court, Russian collusion, “FAKE NEWS,” and faker polls were the product of pharmaceutically induced mania, brain fog, or simply in keeping with every other tweet he’s sent over the past four years.
The president began his social media morning by engaging in some deluded denialism over the multiple polls that show him losing to his Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden, by double digits.
.@NateSilver538 “The Trump 2016 Victory was the most shocking political development of my lifetime.” That’s only because you got it so wrong. This time there is far more ENTHUSIASM even than 2016. Winning many States much more easily than people understand. BIG CROWDS!!!

Trump’s statistically unearned optimism hint at a deviously undemocratic scheme that has gained currency of late: that legislatures controlled by the GOP in crucial swing states may declare the results of the popular votes in their states invalid and simply nominate a Trump-friendly slate of electors to the electoral college to enable the president to gain a second term in office as illegitimate as his popular vote deficit made his first term.
Trump’s selective attention to the cheering crowds of his deluded supporters — crowds that were noticeably absent from the latest White House superspreader event he held yesterday where only an estimated crowd of around 300-400 turned up after expectations of 1000 invitees — seems to have him ignoring the polls to see only what he wants to believe.
“Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest,” as Paul Simon once wrote.
The president continued his assault on the polls that are bringing him such depressing news (for him, at least, if not for the majority of Americans) with his next post.
In 2016, the ABC News/Washington Post Poll was such a complete disaster that these two Fake News Organizations changed the numbers prior to the Election. Now these haters are trying the same thing, though on a lesser scale, again. Will have a bigger win than even 2016!

Trump moved on to the subject of packing the Supreme Court with his next posts, retweeting two posts from Andrew McCarthy, a Fox News contributor and an editor at conservative journal National Review.
'packing' is the new 'collusion' …

It takes 2 things to appoint a justice: POTUS's nomination and Senate majority approval. In 2016, if Dems had the latter, Obama would've gotten 3d justice. That would not have been 'packing.' Dems didn't have it, and Obama therefore didn't get 3d. That's how Const'l system works.

McCarthy seems to forget that President Obama’s choice for his final Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, was never given the opportunity to see if a majority of the Senate would approve his nominee since Majority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-KY) refused to even hold confirmation hearings for Garland citing an invented doctrine that presidents in the last months of their term don’t deserve to nominate a candidate for the court, a doctrine that magically disappeared once a Republican president occupied the White House.

After a quick dis towards the Associated Press as another outlet for “Fake News,” Trump returned to retweeting Andy McCarthy on the Supreme Court and, in a flashback to 2016, on Hillary Clinton.

McCarthy’s fallacious propaganda barely deserves a response except as an example of Trump’s own desperation over the very real prospect of losing the popular vote by a record number.
With reality quickly closing in and questions about his perpetual “brain fog” and “roid-rage” swirling about him, Trump celebrated the dubious report on his medical condition issued by his obfuscating White House doctors yesterday.
A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can’t get it (immune), and can’t give it. Very nice to know!!!

Even after having been rushed to the hospital out of a supposed “abundance of caution,” Trump continues to spread misinformation about COVID-19.
Independent medical professionals caution that coronavirus patients with severe cases of the disease such as those that require hospitalization should not return to work until at least 10 days and up to 20 days after symptom onset. Given that the first announcement of the president’s infection came on October 1st, the doctors’ declaration yesterday that Trump was no longer infectious seems suspiciously early given the severity of his case required such an intense pharmaceutical cocktail and strong Steroids to treat.
If you ignore the risks and stand next to the president in the next few days, you had better have access to rapid testing and a high appetite for danger.
The rest of us can watch this debacle from a comfortably safe distance.
