White House advisor Ivanka Trump brags about playing board games and learning guitar during pandemic

Of all the indignities foisted on the American people by Donald Trump, few have become as unfortunately normalized, as accepted as simply the current state of affairs, as the infiltration of the White House by his deeply incompetent relatives. Instead of experts or career policymakers, President Trump relies largely on the advice of his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, with his buffoonish sons Eric and Donald Jr. serving as his media attack dogs.

Ivanka, in particular, has risen to prominence on the world stage, exploiting her father’s nepotism to elbow her way into meetings with world leaders while cultivating backroom influence that she can then convert directly into assistance for her personal businesses. While First Daughters are usually off the table for fair criticism, her ascension to Advisor to the President with a resume that consists of little more than owning sweatshops means she is more than fair game.

With that in mind, Ivanka’s recent comments about how she has been spending her time during the pandemic have quickly become a lightning rod for criticism. Rather than saying that she has been focused on helping her father in the fight against COVID-19, the First Daughter said she has taken up “board games” and “playing guitar.”

A clip of Ivanka’s comments went viral, with many Twitter users incensed that someone in a position of power to help save lives would so cavalierly discuss flitting away her free time. Thanks to her father, COVID-19 has claimed over 218,000 American lives, destroyed families, and left masses of people unemployed.

Meanwhile, Ivanka is enjoying a cushy government check and leisure time while defending the president’s indefensible botching of the pandemic response. One would say she should be ashamed of herself, but shame is clearly not a hereditary trait in the Trump family.
