White House advisor Ivanka Trump brags about playing board games and learning guitar during pandemic
Of all the indignities foisted on the American people by Donald Trump, few have become as unfortunately normalized, as accepted as simply the current state of affairs, as the infiltration of the White House by his deeply incompetent relatives. Instead of experts or career policymakers, President Trump relies largely on the advice of his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, with his buffoonish sons Eric and Donald Jr. serving as his media attack dogs.
Ivanka, in particular, has risen to prominence on the world stage, exploiting her father’s nepotism to elbow her way into meetings with world leaders while cultivating backroom influence that she can then convert directly into assistance for her personal businesses. While First Daughters are usually off the table for fair criticism, her ascension to Advisor to the President with a resume that consists of little more than owning sweatshops means she is more than fair game.
With that in mind, Ivanka’s recent comments about how she has been spending her time during the pandemic have quickly become a lightning rod for criticism. Rather than saying that she has been focused on helping her father in the fight against COVID-19, the First Daughter said she has taken up “board games” and “playing guitar.”
A clip of Ivanka’s comments went viral, with many Twitter users incensed that someone in a position of power to help save lives would so cavalierly discuss flitting away her free time. Thanks to her father, COVID-19 has claimed over 218,000 American lives, destroyed families, and left masses of people unemployed.
Meanwhile, Ivanka is enjoying a cushy government check and leisure time while defending the president’s indefensible botching of the pandemic response. One would say she should be ashamed of herself, but shame is clearly not a hereditary trait in the Trump family.

I’ve never heard of a senior White House adviser having so much free time that they take up a new hobby. https://t.co/y0v0PjdajQ

So, while 220,000 Americans died due to her father's poor response, she played board games and learned to play guitar. Duly noted!
In about 2 weeks, she'll be getting a lot more free time.— Brian Haberman (@RedF00t70) October 20, 2020

Some people are working longer, more draining hours at home on zoom than they did in the office.

She is so fortunate not to have to worry about paying bills, or finding medical care for her family, or worrying whether it’s safe to ride public transportation to that job that she needs to keep her family afloat. This is so tone deaf.

Does she simultaneously eat cake while doing so?

That’s nice. My partner and I and our colleagues have been going to work every day riddled with anxiety about whether today is the day we finally get the virus and exactly how sick will we get and will there be a hospital bed if we need one.

How nice. I've been waking up at 3am, scared that I won't be able to pay my bills.

Jeezus! Most of us are trying to find masks and keep our kids from having nervous collapses locked at home. Our local businesses keep closing.

Those sound like prison activities. Will be an easy transition for her

So fucking out of touch. Glad you get to play board games and guitar will MILLION of us wait in food lines, fight for our unemployment benefits, struggle with virtual learning, and worry that our older relatives will die from COVID.
